The Air Force has grounded 82 of its two-seat
F-16D Fighting Falcons due to structural cracks discovered on the canopy sill
between the front and rear pilot seats.
Gen. Philip Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander in
Europe, said NATO is looking to increase air policing and infantry
exercises in Poland and the Baltic region and is bolstering its naval
presence to the Black Sea in response to continued Russian aggression
along Ukraine's border.
Changing the type of
jet fuel the Air Force uses for its aircraft has lowered the price by two cents
a gallon. When that is applied to the billions of gallons consumed annually the
switch is saving USAF millions of dollars a year.
