President Barack Obama has nominated Lt. Gen. Tod D. Wolters for a fourth star and to head US Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa and Allied Air Command, the Pentagon announced Tuesday. Wolters has been the director of operations on the Joint Staff since July 2015, and served as deputy chief of staff for operations, plans, and requirements on the Air Staff before then. If confirmed by the Senate, he would replace Gen. Frank Gorenc, who is retiring in July. Obama tapped Maj. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, who currently serves as director of the F-35 integration office, to command Air Forces Central Command. If confirmed, he will replace Lt. Gen. Charles Brown, who was himself just confirmed to be the next deputy commander of US Central Command. Maj. Gen. Stayce D. Harris was also nominated for a third star and was tapped for assignment as assistant vice chief of staff of the Air Force. She is currently serving as the commander of the 22nd AF at Dobbins ARB, Ga., and would replace Lt. Gen. John Hesterman, who was removed from office and retired after a USAF Inspector General investigation found he engaged in an unprofessional relationship.
