Airpower Stats Through July 2011

Aug. 9, 2011—Combat and mobility airmen in Southwest Asia reached year-to-date monthly highs in July in terms of airlift, tanker, and intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance sorties conducted, according to statistics released by the combined forces air component commander in Southwest Asia.

In supporting coalition grounds troops, airmen carried out 5,440 airlift sorties last month, 370 more than the previous year-to-date high in May. They conducted 1,952 air-to-air refueling missions, 91 more than the previous high mark in June. They also flew 3,744 ISR missions, 343 more than June's former high tally.

There were also 652 weapons released during close air support sorties in Afghanistan in July, 98 more than dropped in any other month so far this year.
