Air Combat Command has provided more than $260,000 in additional funding to support the transition assistance program run by the Airmen and Family Readiness Center at Langley AFB, Va. With USAF’s drawdown of some 40,000 airmen in full swing, ACC wants to stay on top of the force shaping exodus, reports journalist TSgt. Russell Wicke. ACC plans to offer both group pre-separation counseling and traditional individual counseling. The Air Force expects ultimately to save about $6 billion a year by trimming the force and to use that money for its aircraft recapitalization efforts.
