Since JEFX is a bi-annual event, the planning for the 2008 installment is already under way, according to Lt. Col. J.J. King, the deputy director of the Air Force Experimentation Office—the steward of the experiment. King told reporters at the Pentagon Wednesday that the next experimentation cycle will key on building “collaborative connectivity” among forces, with special attention focused on space and global strike missions.
U.S. Air Force F-35s and F-22s regularly deploy deep into the Pacific region from Alaska, Utah, and Hawaii. In the future, though, the head of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command would like to see the Air Force permanently station fifth-generation aircraft west of the international date line—closer to China.
