The enlisted airmen of Air Force Materiel Command have bestowed the Order of the Sword upon AFMC boss, Gen. Bruce Carlson. He received the high honor last week during a three-hour special ceremony, attended by nearly 350 airmen. CMSgt. Jonathan Hake, AFMC command chief master sergeant, said Carlson has shown his commitment to the enlisted force by working for “key programs such as quality base housing, infrastructure, and equipment upgrades, along with his focus on professional development and quality of life programs.” (USAF report by John Scaggs)
U.S. Air Force F-35s and F-22s regularly deploy deep into the Pacific region from Alaska, Utah, and Hawaii. In the future, though, the head of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command would like to see the Air Force permanently station fifth-generation aircraft west of the international date line—closer to China.
