Druyun “Hurried” KC-135 Depot Maintenance Contract: The DOD Inspector General has released another of its reviews of Air Force contracts “handled” by Darleen Druyun, and this one also shows that she favored Boeing. (Read about three earlier reports here.) According to the IG audit, while Druyun was still a top Air Force acquisition official, her “influence hurried the outcome” of a KC-135 depot maintenance contract adjustment and restructuring, causing the service to “ignore information” from the Defense Contract Audit Agency that might have “reduced the program by $4.5 million.
The Air Force overall reduced its size by 120 aircraft in fiscal year 2021, but kept about the same number of fighter, bomber and attack aircraft, according to data supplied by the service. The F-35 fleet saw the biggest increase while the B-1B bomber fleet saw the largest decline.
