The Air Force Theater Hospital at Balad AB, Iraq, over the past four months has admitted some 1,500 patients, performed 2,500 surgeries, and evacuated more than 2,000 stabilized patients to American military medical facilities in Europe and the US, according to the Red Tail Flyer. Three B-1B Lancers from the 7th Bomb Wing flew over the Indo-Pacific alongside F-16s from the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force as part of a joint large force exercise. The mission began and ended in the continental U.S. The bombers flew 31 hours and landed Jan. 11.
