The safety office for 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., recently conducted a mishap investigation workshop in Argentina. The Spanish-language seminar brought together 16 safety representatives from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, the United States, and Uruguay, to share how the United States conducts mishap investigations in order to help the partner nations be able to conduct effective investigations on their own. On the workshop’s final day, the participants prepared the initial materials from a mishap investigation based on background materials they received on a simulated helicopter crash. “This type of multi-national workshop improves the performance and safety of all our air forces, which helps to ensure the safety and security of each participating nation,” said Lt. Gen. Glenn Spears, 12th AF commander. The workshop, a component of AFSOUTH’s annual safety outreach, took place Aug. 9-13. (Davis-Monthan report by Capt. Sarah Schwennesen)
