Air Force Marathon Sets Registration High Mark

The Air Force Marathon on Thursday registered its 10,000th runner, surpassing a long-standing goal for the 14-year-old event. “We’re thrilled to achieve this important milestone,” said Molly Louden, marathon director. This year’s marathon features four races over a two-day period at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio: a 5K run on Sept. 17 and a full marathon, half marathon, and 10K run on Sept. 18. There are less than 200 slots remaining for the full marathon and the half marathon is already sold out, as of Aug. 11. But there are still plenty of slots available for the 5K and 10K runs. In 2009, the marathon set an all-time record for participants, but was still 31 runners short of 10,000. (Wright-Patterson report by Daryl Mayer) (Air Force Marathon Web site)
