The Band of the US Air Force Reserve was a finalist last month in the Mid-South regional Emmy Awards in Nashville, Tenn., for its 2009 television performance, Holiday Notes from Home. The band didn’t bring home the Emmy, but its members have earned the right to pat themselves on the back for becoming the first Air Force military band nominated for such a prestigious award. The band’s 2009 show, featuring vocalists Amy Grant and Brian McKnight, was broadcast Christmas Eve and morning to 177 countries and US military ships at sea on the American Forces Network. “Holiday Notes from Home is just one way for us to say thanks to all our military men and women and their families for their patriotism,” said Lt. Gen. Charles Stenner, Air Force Reserve Command boss, in a release issued at the time. (Nashville release)
