Suzie Schwartz, wife of Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz, was featured speaker at last week’s ceremony in San Antonio rededicating the Air Force Village on its 40th anniversary. “The village’s dedication to providing a quality living environment and care centered on the individual has been an unqualified success,” she said. The retirement community, which is near Lackland Air Force Base, is getting a new front entrance, healthcare center, several new apartments and dining facilities, and an assisted-living facility under a construction project set to complete in mid-2011. “Since it is the nature of the Air Force to look toward the future, we are now engaged in this major expansion and revitalization of our village,” said Schwartz during the Oct. 22 ceremony. She added, “These new venues will be among the best in the country.” (San Antonio report by SSgt. Patrick Brown)
