Military officials broke ground last month for the new consolidated Medical Education and Training Campus at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, where DOD plans to centralize training for all enlisted military medical training. According to a July 31 release, a tri-service leadership will run the facility, which is slated to be completed by 2011. The Air Force’s 882nd Training Group will move from Sheppard Air Force Base in north Texas and Army and Navy enlisted medical training units will also move to San Antonio.
