The Air Force’s senior leadership began a “Corona Top” summit Wednesday at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. This gathering is one of the service’s tri-annual powwows of senior USAF generals from the unified combatant commands and the service’s own major commands. The uniformed leadership meets to discuss the major issues facing the service and plot future changes. The talks at Corona Top will center on ongoing operations and budgetary issues, Lt. Col. Adriane Craig, spokeswoman for Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz, tells the Daily Report. The summit runs through the end of the week.
NASA, SpaceX, and United Launch Alliance are all preparing to launch their next-gen rockets from Florida’s Space Coast, two of them before the year is out. One is expected to liberate the U.S. launch enterprise from its reliance on Russian-made RD-180 engines, while all three rockets could eventually carry astronaut crews.
