Air University’s Ira C. Eaker Center for Professional Development at Maxwell AFB, Ala., on Oct. 1 took over management of Air Force Space Command’s professional continuing education center for excellence, known as the National Security Space Institute, which is located in Colorado Springs, Colo. “It is logical for the NSSI to nest within the Eaker Center as it is responsible for providing a large portion of Air Force professional continuing education programs,” said Col. Robert Gibson, NSSI commandant. The NSSI consists of two schools: the Space Professional School for preparing intermediate-level and senior-echelon space leaders, and the Space Operations School for training joint warfighters in space issues.
