A retired F-15 Eagle may soon grace the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Parkway in Warner Robins, Ga., if the city can raise the money needed to bring it to display, reports Warner Robins’ WMAZ news. The city council voted to allocate $30,000 of the estimated $80,000 needed to complete the project and seeks private donations for the rest. The city would like to mount the F-15 on a plinth at the Interstate-75 exit for Centerville. The bulk of USAF’s F-15 overhaul and modification work is handled through the nearby Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins Air Force Base, making the aircraft a fitting icon of the city’s contribution. Robins’ 116th Air Control Wing donated the F-15 and the adjoining Museum of Aviation completed its restoration.
