Fourteenth Air Force Up to Muster

Air Force Space Command officials announced Thursday that 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), headquartered at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., passed its first-ever compliance inspection held there June 20-28. “This inspection was extremely comprehensive and demanded the absolute highest standards of compliance,” said Lt. Gen. Larry James, 14th AF commander. More than 30 AFSPC inspectors assessed the ability of 14th AF’s mid-level headquarters to organize, train, equip, command and control, and employ USAF’s space forces in theater and global scenarios. All applicable functions of the 14th AF staff were evaluated as well as functions within the 614th Air and Space Operations Center. “These inspections are rigorous, thorough and purposefully designed to ensure the unit is able to accomplish their mission,” said Col. Scott Gilson, AFSPC Inspector General. (Peterson release)
