Air Force Space Command boss Gen. Bob Kehler says the Air Force plans to indoctrinate its basic trainees in the ways of cyber warfare, reports Associated Press. Speaking this week at the Space Foundation symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo., he said that plans are not final but he expects the new recruit training would likely only be one or two hours covering fundamentals. In an AP interview, Kehler explained, “We teach them at basic training fundamentals of an M16 [rifle], for example, and an M9 [pistol], and so we want them to know the fundamentals of the computer network that they’re going to be operating in.” Earlier this year, at AFA’s Air Warfare Symposium, Kehler noted that the first undergraduate cyber training program—advanced training to help develop USAF’s cadre of cyber professionals—would begin in June.
