Huey Crew to the Rescue

An aircrew at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo., located and helped rescue two men who went missing while snowmobile riding in southern Wyoming on Jan. 18. The UH-1N aircrew, assigned to the 37th Helicopter Squadron, responded within an hour to a 5 a.m. request from local officials to try to locate the missing men. “We got the call that morning, we were told to come in for a possible [search and rescue],” SSgt. Brice Marshall, 37th HS flight engineer, said in an Air Force Global Strike Command release. The men had been missing for nearly 48 hours when the aircrew found them in the bottom of a ravine in Carbon County about five hours after the call. Lt. Col. Michael Clay, the 90th Medical Operations Squadron on-board flight medic, was lowered down 100 feet to the men and found them to be in good health, according to the release. The Carbon County Sheriff Department organized a ground search party to then recover the men.
