Officials cut the ceremonial ribbon, opening the new family lounge in the passenger terminal at McChord Field, Wash., on the grounds of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. “Efforts to upgrade the McChord family lounge began in the spring of 2011,” said 2nd Lt. Michael Weber, 62nd Aerial Port Squadron passenger terminal assistant flight commander, in the joint base’s release. Construction began in March 2013 as part of an Air Mobility Command plan to standardize its passenger terminals around the world, according to the release. The lounge includes a large play area, jungle gym, quiet nursing room, and a secluded business center. “For all of the folks from the aerial port, particularly the passenger terminal, this really signifies AMC’s commitment to our families,” said Col. David Kumashiro, McChord’s 62nd Airlift Wing commander. The lounge opened on June 23. (McChord report by SSgt. Russ Jackson)
