Outlining the Chief’s Priorities

Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath, England, to discuss his boss’ priorities last week. During a town hall with airmen, Battaglia outlined Gen. Martin Dempsey’s top priorities: “achieve our national objectives in the current conflict; develop Joint Force 2020; renew our commitment to the profession of arms; and keep faith with our military family,” states a June 21 release. One of Battaglia’s reasons for visiting was to receive an “in-depth orientation” of the roles, missions, and responsibilities for each of the bases. He noted the importance of maintaining proficiency even as the war in Afghanistan winds down. “Being ready and relevant is critical for us to exist and survive as the all-volunteer force we are,” said Battaglia. He added, “(Our adversaries) won’t just go to ground when we leave. They will still be there, waiting.
