Registration for the 2011 Air Force marathon will open Jan. 1, with special sale pricing for New Year’s Day. The 26.2 mile race will be held at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, on Sept. 17, 2011. Runners also can compete in a 13.1 mile half marathon, a 10K, and a 5K run. The 2010 marathon broke attendance records. “In 2010, every single event sold out, with more than 12,000 runners registering,” said Molly Louden, the race director. She added, “We are increasing our race caps to 13,000 this year in order to accommodate those runners who didn’t register in time last year, but we fully expect to sell out even earlier this year.” (Wright-Patterson release) (Marathon website) (See also And the Winners Are from the Daily Report archives)
