Geraldine Hoff Doyle, the iconic face of “Rosie the Riveter” depicted on a World War II “We Can Do It!” poster, dies at age 86. In 1942, she was 17 and working at a metal-pressing plant in Michigan when a United Press photographer snapped her photo, which an artist later used-unknown to Doyle at the time-as the inspiration for the now-classic support-the-war-effort poster.
